Ramoth in Gilead out of the tribe of Gad

These are the City of Refuges shall be appointed Kedesh in Galilee in mount Naphtali, and Shechem in mount Ephraim, and Kirjatharba, which is Hebron, in the mountain of Judah. And on the other side Jordan by Jericho eastward, they assigned Bezer in the wilderness upon the plain out of the tribe of Reuben, and Ramoth in Gilead out of the tribe of Gad, and Golan in Bashan out of the tribe of Manasseh. These six cities are on either side of the Jordan and are under the supervision of the Levites. These were the cities appointed for all the children of Israel and for the stranger that sojourned among them, that whosoever killed any person unaware might flee there, and not die by the hand of the avenger of blood, until he stood before the congregation. (Joshua 20:1-9 KJV).

Ramoth in Gilead the east of Jordan belongs to the children of the tribe of Gad. (Joshua 20:8 KJV).

All the cities of the tribe of Gad shared with the children of Merari by their families which were remaining of the families of the Levites. (Joshua 21:38-41 KJV).

Ahab, the king of Israel, joined Jehoshaphat, the king of Judah, in an attempt to rescue Ramoth in Gilead from the hands of the king of Syria. The prophet Micaiah, the son of Imlah was called by the king of Israel and the king of Judah. Micaiah was a true prophet of the LORD. He was asked if is they should go against Ramoth-gilead. Micaiah prophesied against the king of Israel and the children of Israel being scattered upon the hills as sheep without a shepherd. Micaiah also prophesied the death of King Ahab. (1 Kings 22:1-40 KJV).

Joram, the son of Ahab was king of Israel and Ahaziah, the son of Jehoram king of Judah. Ahaziah walked in the way of the house of Ahab ad did evil in the sight of the LORD as did the house of Ahab. Ahaziah went with Joram to the war against Hazael king of Syria in Ramoth-gilead. The Syrians wounded Joram at Ramoth-gilead. (2 Kings 8:25-29 KJV).

The prophet Elisha instructed the children of the prophets to go to Ramoth-gilead to anoint Jehu the son of Jehoshapat the son of Nimshi as king over Israel. (2 King 1-4 KJV).

Jehu the son of Jehoshaphat the son of Nimshi conspired against Joram. (Now Joram had kept Ramothgilead, he and all Israel, because of Hazael king of Syria. But king Joram was returned to be healed in Jezreel of the wounds which the Syrians had given him, when he fought with Hazael king of Syria.) And Jehu said, If it be your minds, then let none go forth nor escape out of the city to go to tell it in Jezreel. (2 Kings 9:14-15 KJV).

Today the precise location of Ramoth-gilead is unknown. It has been implied that it is Ramith which is southeast of the Sea of Galilee.
