Fellowship of Evangelical Bible Churches

The Fellowship of Evangelical Bible Churches is an evangelical Christian denomination with the heritage of the Anabaptist Mennonites. They are a fellowship of Churches committed to the New Testament. They keep to their Biblical foundation in faith and in practice and believe the Bible is inspired, inerrant and the authoritative Word of God.

They strive to get more involvement in evangelism, church planning, world missions and discipleship among churches. The Fellowship of Evangelical Bible Churches publishes a magazine “The Fellowship Focus” which comes out twice a month. Their conference headquarters are now located in Omaha, Nebraska.

History

The Fellowship of Evangelical Bible Churches was founded as the Evangelical Mennonite Brethren Conference in Mountain Lake Minnesota in 1889. Originally this conference began among the Russian Mennonite immigrants which came to Canada and the United States from Russia in 1874. The Russian Mennonites withdrew from the General Conference Mennonite Church because they desired a greater evangelical emphasis on the doctrines of repentance, non-conformity to the world, with a stronger scriptural discipline, conversion, and repentance. They published a new confession of faith and published it in 1907.

The Evangelical Mennonite Brethren and the Evangelical Mennonite Church start the process of merging in 1953 but they could not come to terms so the merger failed in 1962. The Evangelical Mennonite Brethren Conference was interested in merging with the Evangelical Mennonite Brethren of South America since they shared similar languages, doctrine, backgrounds and practices in 1958.

The Evangelical Mennonite Brethren Conference changed their name on July 16, 1987 to the Fellowship of Evangelical Bible Churches.

Belief

The Fellowship of Evangelical Bible Churches believes the Holy Scripture, the Old and New Testament are the Word of God. They believe they are verbally inspired in all their parts and without error as originally give my God.

They believe in the One Triune God, who is personal, sovereign, spirit and eternal in His being. They believe God is the Creator and yet He is everywhere present in the world as the upholder of all things. The Fellowship of Evangelical Bible Churches believes God exists in three persons; the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. They believe these three are of one essence and equal in power and glory. They believe all three are to be honored and worshipped equally as true God.

They believe Jesus Christ is the Son of God and is eternal. They believe He was conceived by the Holy Spirit and born a man by the virgin birth and this makes Him both true God and true man. They believe Jesus made a full atonement for sins through His vicarious suffering and death on the cross. They believe He rose triumphantly from the grave the third day, ascended into heaven, and is now at the right hand of God interceding on the behalf of mankind.

They believe the Holy Spirit is the third person in the Godhead. They believe the Holy Spirit convicts the world of sin, regenerates those who believe, and indwells, baptizes, empowers, guides, seals, teaches and gives spiritual gifts to all believers.

They believe Satan is a real, supernatural personality. They believe he is a fallen angel of great power and wickedness. They believe he is the enemy of God and off all things good. They believe Satan is seeking the destruction of Jesus Christ and the eternal ruin of every person. They believe Satan has been defeated by the death of Christ and is doomed to be cast into the lake of fire.

They believe in the existence of angels as a higher order of created spiritual beings and that they are superior to man. They believe angels were active in the earthly life and ministry of Jesus Christ. They believe angels exist to presently minister to all believers.

They believe man was created by God in the divine image. They believe that man was originally sinless, but when tempted by Satan, they disobeyed God thus they became a sinful creature. They believe man now are born in sin and are sinners by nature.

They believe salvation is a gift of the grace of God. They believe the grace of God was offered freely on the basis of the substitutional death of Christ on the cross. They believe it is received by faith in the Lord Jesus Christ and cannot be obtained by human effort. They believe salvation results in eternal life and a new nature. They also believe this salvation is a son-ship in the family of God and for sanctification and victory over the power of sin. The Fellowship of Evangelical Bible Churches believes every person will be physically raised from the dead. They believe those saved to life everlasting and the unsaved to eternal condemnation.

They believe in the one true church, the body and the bride of Christ. They believe the one true church was started on the day of Pentecost and will be completed at the second coming of Christ. They believe all regenerated believers of this age are baptized by the Holy Spirit. They believe the local visible church is composed of professing, baptized believers in Christ who join together and meet at stated times to worship together.

They believe in the personal, visible, imminent, premillennialism (the belief that Jesus Christ will return to earth for the Last Judgment just before the one-thousand-year reign of peace (millennium) mentioned in the Bible). They believe in the return of Christ to rapture all believers, in the great tribulation, and in the revelation of Christ at the end of the great tribulation and the Great White Throne judgment.

The Fellowship of Evangelical Bible Churches believes that believers will be judged according to their deeds at the judgment seat of Christ and that they will live a life in the presence of Christ. They believe the unbelievers will be judged according to their works at the Great White Throne and will be cast into the lake of fire where they will be forever.
