Conservative Baptist Association of America

The Conservative Baptist Association of America is a fellowship with a common covenant of Regional Baptist Church Associations. It is a network of churches and their ministries.

Their Association is a voluntary fellowship of independent and Bible believing Baptist churches that work together to extend the Baptist testimony. The Conservative Baptist Association of America is committed to planting new churches and evangelizing. They are dedicated to higher education and encouraging youth ministries and women ministries.

They hold a conservative viewpoint of theology. They do not consider themselves a denomination even though they function as one. Their headquarters is in Wheaton, Illinois.

History

The Conservative Baptist Association of America was organized in Atlantic City, New Jersey in May 17, 1947. Like other denominations, the Conservative Baptist Association of America was formed from a controversy within the Northern Baptist Convention.

The Northern Baptist Convention met in 1946. The American Baptist Foreign Mission Society believed in sending out missionaries of both the conservative and liberal theologies to the mission fields. The Northern Baptists would not allow opposing missionary agencies to operate within the Church and they rejected sending liberal missionaries to foreign countries. They also disputed over interpretation of scripture as well as theology. Many churches withdrew and formed a new association. The newly formed Conservative Baptist Association of America felt the American Baptists had become too liberal and radical.

Belief

The Conservative Baptist Association of America believes the Scriptures of both the old and New Testaments are the inspired Word of God. They believe it is inerrant in its original writings, complete as the revelation of the will of God for salvation, and the final authority in all matters contained within.

They believe in God, the Creator and Sustainer of all things. They believe God exists in three persons; the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. They believe they are equal in every separate excellence. They believe that God the Father is infinite and perfect in holiness, love, power and wisdom.

They believe God the Father hears and answers prayers, and that God the Father saves from sin and death everyone who comes to Him through Jesus Christ.

They believe Jesus Christ is the eternal Son of God the Father. They believe Jesus has the same qualities and perfections as God the Father and God the Holy Spirit. They believe Jesus is both true God, and true man, conceived by the Holy Spirit and born of the Virgin Mary. They believe Jesus Christ was sinless in life and is the substitute for atonement. They also believe in the bodily resurrection of Jesus from the dead, His ascension into heaven, His priestly intercession on the behalf of His people.

The Conservative Baptist Association of America believes in the personal, visible, pre-millennialism return from Heaven. They believe the ministry of the Holy Spirit is to glorify the Lord Jesus Christ, and to put into service the redeeming work of Jesus for the lost. They believe the Holy Spirit empowers the believer for godly living and service.

The Conservative Baptist Association of America believes God created male and female in His image and free from sin. They believe people are sinners by their nature and by their choice and are spiritually dead. They further believe those believers who repent of sin and trust in Jesus Christ and believe Jesus is their Savior are regenerated by the Holy Spirit.

They believe in salvation by grace through the faith in the Lord Jesus Christ. They believe salvation is established upon the grace of God, and was purchased by Jesus Christ on the cross, and is received by faith, apart from anything people can do, not by their works or merit. Salvation results in a life lived in righteousness, good works and proper social concerns. The Conservative Baptist Association of America believes in the bodily resurrection of the saved and lost, the eternal existence of all people either in Heaven or in hell, in divine judgment, rewards and punishments.

They believe the Church is the spiritual body with Jesus Christ as the head. They believe the true Church is composed of all persons who have been regenerated by the Holy Spirit. They believe the Church is a body of believers specifically forming in local assemblies where members confess a credible confession of faith, and have associated themselves for worship and instruction.

The ordinances of the local church are the Believer’s Baptism done by full immersion and the Lord’s Supper.

The Conservative Baptist Association of America believes each local church is self-governing and free from interference by all authority. They believe every human being is responsible to God in all matters of faith and life and that every human being should be free to worship God according to their conscience. They believe it should be the believers mission is to glorify God in their daily live. They also believe believers should be faithful stewards of their possessions.
