Central Baptist Association Ministries

The Central Baptist Association is an association of churches that are located in South Carolina and states in-between to Indiana. Tennessee and southwestern Virginia claim to have the most churches within the Association. The Mission of the Central Baptist Association is dependent upon each church working out its own mission strategy. Their purpose is to build fellowship among churches, give advice and help with individual church struggles. They provide for a union of churches to form an unbreakable chain of communion among the Church. They establish new churches and assist in setting up active youth programs, Sunday school programs, prayer meetings, worship services, Bible studies, evangelistic and missionary work. They support homes for adults and children, youth camps, and Bible camps for all ages. They believe their outreach enables churches to maintain their fellowship and mission together on a local level.

History

The Central Baptist Association was formed in 1956 when some churches of the Eastern District Primitive Baptist Association separated to become more progressive. They hoped to make available homes for homeless and destitute children as a spiritual work of the association of Baptist churches.

The Central Baptist adopted its name to indicate their acceptance of the Bible as a whole. They wanted to make it known they did not vary to the right or to the left. The Bible was their central importance.

Their headquarters is in Jasper, Virginia, which includes a Tabernacle, a home for children, and a Bible youth camp.

Belief

The Central Baptist Association has five core values: A missionary community, a prophetic community, an inclusive community, a worship community, and a sacrificial community. They believe their most urgent needs are to make the Gospel accessible to the non-church goers, to develop more communities and social action projects, and to learn to connect with other cultures.

The Central Baptist Association believes it is their responsibility to respond to the challenges of new housing developments and increase the availability of their missions.
