Jesus Healing a Blind Man
Jesus and His disciples are in Bethsaida when the people brought a man to Jesus and called Jesus to touch this blind man. Jesus spit on his eyes and put his hands on this man. When the blind man was asked what he saw he said he saw men like trees walking. This has a very important lesson for us in our spiritual life. We must always keep our eyes on Jesus so He can lead us in our journey through life.
Mark 8:22-26
Jesus came to Bethsaida which is a small fishing village on the west shore of the Sea of Galilee close to where the Jordan empties into it. It is the home of Andrew, Peter, Philip and John.
The people brought a blind man to Jesus and they called Jesus to touch this blind man.
Jesus took this blind man by the hand, and led him out of the town; and when he had spit on his eyes, and put His hands upon the blind man then asked him what this man saw.
The blind man looked up, and said, I see men as trees, walking.
It was after that Jesus put his hands upon his eyes again, and made him look up; and the blind man was restored and he saw every man clearly.
Jesus sent this blind man away to his house, saying, “Neither go into the town, nor tell it to any in the town.”
What Can Be Learned From This Lesson?
Jesus took this blind man by the hand, and led him out of the town. This is important for a couple of reasons. 1. It was between the man and Jesus and 2. This protected the blind man from the crowds.
When Jesus had spit on his eyes, and put His hands upon the blind man then asked him what this man saw. The blind man saw men as trees walking. What a strange thing for him to see and to say.
There are many mysteries in the Bible little hidden gems and this is one of them. Trees are one of them. Trees are the spiritual lives of men. Men walking toward the LORD God with a focus on their spiritual lives, rather than their natural live. It is Mark 8:24 that reveal this to us.
Walking is the progress, to make use of opportunities given to us. It is the regulating of the life of men, the way one conducts one’s self as we walk toward the Lord with the help and guidance from Jesus Christ.
It was after that Jesus put his hands upon his eyes again, and made him look up; and the blind man was restored and he saw every man clearly. It is only after we have our sight restored and we learn and listen to Jesus that we can see clearly.
We must always keep our eyes focused on Jesus and keep holding His hand as we journey through this life with Him as our guide.
