Miraculous Healing of Many People in Gennesaret

When Jesus and the disciple arrived in Gennesaret the fame of Jesus had got there before Him. The people there already had knowledge of Jesus, and they sent out into all that country round about to bring all those that were diseased. It takes faith and forgiveness to be healed. All healings are done for the Glory of the LORD not for the glory of man.
Matthew 14:34-36; Mark 6:53-56

Jesus had performed the miracle of walking on the water with Peter on the Sea of Galilee. Jesus and his disciples went over the Sea of Galilee to the land of Gennesaret.

Gennesaret stood on the western shore of the lake of Gennesaret. It was called “the Paradise of Galilee” because it is so fertile and beautiful. It was close to the city of Capernaum where Jesus did most of his public ministry.
When Jesus and the disciple arrived the fame of Jesus had got there before Him. The people there already had knowledge of Jesus, and they sent out into all that country round about to bring all those that were diseased.
They laid their sick in the streets. They begged Jesus that they might only touch the hem of His garment: as many as touched were made perfectly whole.

What Can Be Learned From This Lesson?

How magnificent when people know the healing power of Jesus. Not only did the sick, diseased, and injured have faith but those who carried them to Jesus had to have faith as well. Just because someone doesn’t want to be sick, injured or diseased does not mean they are going to be healed.

The people in the land of Gennesaret knew Jesus. They had the faith they would be healed. They all gave glory to the LORD God for their healing. They all went to Jesus they did not wait for Jesus to come to them.

This means we must know Jesus. We must have the faith we can be healed by Him. The glory of healing must be given to the LORD. We must also know that if we ask for healing and it doesn’t come then there is a higher purpose involved.

It is important for you to understand that a miracles healing of these people were all done for the glory of the LORD God. It is never done for the glory of man. This is one of the most important concepts for you to understand.

We were all created in the image of the LORD God. He created man perfect and placed man in the Garden of Eden to cultivate the ground. Man had perfect health. There was no sickness, no disease, no suffering and no death.

The sin was introduced and Adam directly disobeyed the LORD. The consequence of this disobedience was death. So sin comes into play when we take about the healing act of Jesus. Jesus was given authority to heal and to forgive sins.

The healing’s performed by Jesus does come at a cost to Him. Jesus was wounded for our transgressions which are wrongdoings or our disobedience. He was bruised for our iniquities which is quilt of our sins. And it is important that we understand that it was because of the wounding of Jesus that we are healed. We are made healthy physically, spiritually and mentally. This is all for the glory of the LORD God.
