Healing of the Nobleman’s Son

The second miracle that Jesus did when He came out of Judaea into Galilee was the healing of the royal official’s son. This nobleman went to Jesus out of faith and believed Jesus could save his son. This lesson we all must learn to believe on Jesus, ask in His name and have faith.

 John 4:46-54

So Jesus came again into Cana of Galilee, where he made the water wine. And there was a certain nobleman, whose son was sick at Capernaum.
When the nobleman heard that Jesus had come out of Judaea into Galilee, he went unto Jesus, and begged Jesus hat he would come down, and heal his son. His son was at the point of death.

Then said Jesus unto this nobleman, except you see signs and wonders, you will not believe. The nobleman told Jesus that unless He came down his child would die.

Jesus said unto him, Go on your way; your son lives. And the man believed the word that Jesus had spoken unto him, and he went his way. His servants met him and told him that his son was alive.

Then the nobleman asks his servant at the hour that his child started getting better. The servant said “Yesterday at the seventh hour the fever left him.” The nobleman knew it was at the same hour Jesus had said to him; your son lives. The nobleman and his whole household believed.
This is again the second miracle that Jesus did, when he was come out of Judaea into Galilee.

What Can Be Learned From This Lesson?

This nobleman was a man belonging to a king, or a royal person. He could have had the best of the best caring for his sick son. No one could help him. So this royal official heard that Jesus had traveled to the town of Cana.
Jesus is the best of the best and can do things doctors, magician or even kings could ever do. This is the beginning of the ministry of Jesus and already people knew the power He possessed for His Heavenly Father. They only had to have faith.

The nobleman went to Cana and begged Jesus to go to Capernaum to heal the official’s son, who was about to die. It is important that you realize that the nobleman went to Jesus. Jesus did not go to the nobleman, nor was it a chance meeting. The nobleman traveled to and sought out Jesus to heal his son.

When we have a need that must be met and there is no other way we must seek, or go to Jesus. You cannot just hope or expect Jesus to come to you. Jesus is not a magical mind reader who has neither the time nor the inclination to guess what your needs might or might not be.

You have to go to Him and ask in sincere prayer and faith.
“Jesus answered and said unto them, Verily I say unto you, If ye have faith, and doubt not, ye shall not only do this which is done to the fig tree, but also if ye shall say unto this mountain, Be thou removed, and be thou cast into the sea; it shall be done. And all things, whatsoever ye shall ask in prayer, believing, ye shall receive.”(Matthew 21:21-22)

“Believe me that I am in the Father, and the Father in me: or else believe me for the very works’ sake. Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that believeth on me, the works that I do shall he do also; and greater works than these shall he do; because I go unto my Father. And whatsoever ye shall ask in my name, that will I do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son. If ye shall ask any thing in my name, I will do it.” (John 14:11-14)

It took belief and faith in Jesus for the nobleman to turn away from Jesus and return home. He knew his son would live because Jesus had told him so. Sometimes we get confused when we pray that someone we love is facing a bad disease or maybe even death. We feel like Jesus has failed us because someone we love is sick or maybe even dies.

We need to remember that everything is in the will of the LORD. Only the LORD God sees the whole picture all at once. We equally have to have faith and believe that the LORD is in control of our lives and accept that as His Will. It is important for us to Love the LORD, keep his words and because of Jesus the Father will love you, and we will come unto the LORD and make our abode with Him.

Jesus left us with His peace was given only those who believe in Jesus and have faith and has received the Holy Spirit receives this special peace. This means we should not let our heart be troubled, nor should we be afraid. (John 14:27).
