The Parable of the Hidden Pearl
The parable of the pearl of great price follows immediately after the hidden treasure in Matthew 13:44. There are similarities but the lesson is one that must be learned by all of us.
Matthew 13:45-46
The parable of the pearl of great price follows immediately after the hidden treasure in Matthew 13:44. This is how it reads.
“Again, the kingdom of heaven is like a merchant in search of beautiful, high quality pearls; who, when he found a single, costly pearl, went and sold all he had and bought it.”
What Can Be Learned From This Lesson?
This parable is very similar to the hidden treasure, but not all together. The Merchant is Jesus.
The purchase price is “all he had”. The high quality pearls represents those believers who seek and find Jesus the Word of God.
The main difference is that here the pearl is purchased, instead of the place where the pearl was found. The main point is the fact that the high quality pearls were bought. Jesus paid a high price for us. He paid all that He had; His life.
Jesus Christ is the only one who has given His life for so many. 1 John 5:11-12 reminds us: “And this is the record, that God hath given to us eternal life, and this life is in his Son. He that hath the Son hath life; and he that hath not the Son of God hath not life.”
