Simeon was the second born son of Leah and Jacob. Leah conceived Simeon and said, because the LORD has heard that I was hated, he has therefore given me this son also.
Levi was the third son of Jacob and Leah. The LORD appointed Aaron, the brother of Moses and his sons to minister unto the LORD in the priest’s office. At that time the LORD separated the tribe of Levi, to bear the ark of the covenant of the LORD, to stand before the LORD to minister unto him, and to bless in his name, unto this day.
It is important to know the sons of Jacob because they eventually become the tribes of Israel. Jesus was born out of the tribe of Judah. The story of the sons of Jacob helps to express examples of the LORD God’s love, mercy, and care for His family. I am so thankful we belong to the family of the LORD God.
