African Methodist Episcopal Zion Church
The African Methodist Episcopal Zion church plays a critical role for the cultural, as well as the political life of the African American Community. Known as The Freedom Church during the Civil war and the slavery period of history, they provided a system of activists that provided places of safety for escaping slaves searching for freedom.
