Baptist Missionary Association of America

The Baptist Missionary Association of America is a supporter of missionaries and their families in the United States and other foreign countries. The purpose of The Baptist Missionary Association of America is to support goodwill, Christian education and mission work.

The Baptist Missionary Association of America shares the orthodox views of most other Christians. They believe in the trinity of God, the virgin birth and the deity of Jesus, the verbal inspiration of the Scriptures, the death, burial, resurrection, and return of Christ, salvation by grace through faith alone, baptism by immersion, the Lord’s Supper as a remembrance to be observed, eternal security of the believers, separation of church and state, and the joining of each church with other churches in sending and supporting missionary to other areas both in the United States and to every country on the earth.

History

The Baptist Missionary Association of America is a group of regular Baptist churches that formed an association May 25, 1950 at Little Rock, Arkansas. Originally it was the North American Baptist Association in 1950. It became The Baptist Missionary Association of America in 1969.

The Baptist Missionary Association of America split from the American Baptist Association because of a disagreement within the Baptist General Convention of Texas and the result was the creation of the Baptist Missionary association of Texas in 1900. The Baptist Missionary Association of America became part of the Landmark Baptist church movement focused mainly in the South and Texas.

The significance of the Landmark Baptist early movement of the church was it was visible only physically; there is no early written documentation that established their presence. They claim the organization established by the movement, was the same type organization established by Jesus for his church before Pentecost. Sometimes the Landmarkism is called Baptist Secessionism. They believe the Great Commission was given to the local churches only and the church ordinances are Baptism and the Lord’s Supper.

The Baptist Missionary Association of America mission work can be found in Africa, Philippines, and the Eastern Asian nations.

Belief

The Baptist Missionary Association of America believes there is one living and true God, creator of the universe. He is God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit, who are equal in every Divine perfection. God created man in His own image.

The Baptist Missionary Association of America believes God the Son is the Savior of the world. He is born of the Virgin Mary. Jesus declared His deity among men, died on the cross as the only sacrifice for sins; He arose bodily from the grave, and ascended back to the Father. He sits at the right hand of the Father and in the intercessor for believers until Jesus returns to rapture all believers from the world unto Himself. All the dead will be raised bodily, each in his own order. The righteous dead will be resurrected into life, and the wicked dead into the resurrection of damnation. Hell is the place for eternal punishment and suffering for the devil, his angles and the unredeemed.

The Baptist Missionary Association of America believes in the God the Holy Spirit. The purpose of the Holy Spirit is to convict sins, teach spiritual truths according to the written word, permanently indwell within the the believers, confer on every believer at conversion and give the ability to give spiritual service.

The Baptist Missionary Association of America believes the Scriptures are the inerrant Revelation, written by divine inspired men moved by the Holy Spirit and belonging to God. The Scriptures provide the standards for the believer for faith and practice.

The Baptist Missionary Association of America believes man was created in the image of God and has fallen through sin. Satan is a person rather than a personification of evil and along with his demons they oppose all that is true and godly by blinding the world to the gospel of Jesus Christ and tempting the saints of God to do evil. When men are in the state of sin they are under the influence of the devil and lack any power to save themselves.

The Baptist Missionary Association of America believes salvation is wholly based on the grace of God. God delivers undeserving sinners from sin and the results of sin. It is through justification God declares righteous all those putting their faith in Christ as Savior. Through Christ, sinners are given freedom from condemnation and peace with God. The way of salvation is based wholly on the grace of God apart from works. Anyone who is repentant and has reverence toward God and faith in Jesus Christ will be saved. Jesus Christ died for the sins of the whole world. It is through His blood that provides atonement. All sinners can be saved by the blood of Jesus Christ.

The Baptist Missionary Association of America believes The New Testament church is a local congregation of baptized believers in Jesus Christ. They are united by the covenant from God. Jesus is the head of the church and the rules of faith and practice is from the Holy Bible. The church was instituted by Jesus during His personal ministry while on the earth. The church will continue until the return of Jesus. The pastors, elders, and bishops are authorized to be the overseers of the church and to teach under the Lordship of Jesus Christ. Pastors are equal in the service of God. Deacons, ministers and the servants are servants of the church and assist the pastors. Each individual church selects their own deacons according to the needs of their church. The Ministry of the church is evangelizing the sinners by preaching the gospel, baptizing those who believe, and giving them instructions and disciplines.
