The Fall of Adam and Eve

The Fall of Adam and Eve is the beginning point to help children understand more about original sin. It also helps children to understand we choose to disobey God and this brings bad results into our lives. Our sin separates us from the Lord God. But the LORD God loves us and sent His Son, Jesus to make a way for us to be right with the LORD God once again. Genesis 3:1-24

The Lord God placed Adam and Eve into His beautiful Garden of Eden. It was a magnificent garden full of beauty and peace. It was also full of all kinds of fruit trees.
Adam and Eve were told they could eat the fruit from any tree in His garden except one. It was the tree of Good and evil. They were warned that if they disobeyed and ate from this tree they would die.
Adam and Eve obeyed the Lord and enjoyed the grandeur of the garden. Then one day there was a serpent who had come to tempt Adam and Eve. He was very cunning.
The serpent found Eve alone in the garden near the forbidden tree and he spoke to her saying: “Did God really say not to eat from every tree in the garden?”This surprised Eve and she repeated to the serpent what the Lord had told them. “We may eat of the fruit of the trees of the garden: But of the fruit of the tree which is in the midst of the garden, God hath said, Ye shall not eat of it, neither shall ye touch it, lest ye die.”(Genesis 3:2-3).
The serpent told her; “You will not die! God knows that if you eat the fruit of this tree, you will be just like Him in all things. You will know about good and evil and that will make you powerful.”

Now Eve knew of the warning that God gave them, but the serpent and his words seemed to make sense to her. The fruit was just as ripe and sweet as all of the other fruit in the garden. It just looked so good and she just knew it would taste really good as well. She just knew God would want them to be wise.
So Eve took the fruit and ate it. Adam came by and she gave the fruit to Adam to try. He also ate of the forbidden fruit. Adam and Eve had sinned against the Lord God by eating the forbidden fruit.
Adam and Eve heard the voice of the Lord calling them as He was walking through the garden. They hid because they knew they had sinned; and the Lord was going to know it.
Finally Adam had to answer and told the Lord; ìI heard thy voice in the garden, and I was afraid, because I was naked; and I hid myself.” The Lord said to Adam; “Who told you that you were naked? Have you eaten of the tree, whereof I commanded you that you should not eat?”
Adam told the Lord; “The woman you made to be my helper, she gave me the fruit from the tree, and I did eat of it.” The Lord God said to the woman, Eve, “What is this you have done?”
Eve said to the Lord God; “The serpent confused me, Lord. And I did eat of the tree.” Adam and Ever were afraid and ashamed of what they had done.
The Lord God said to the serpent that because he did this “Thou art cursed above all cattle, and above every beast of the field; upon thy belly shalt thou go, and dust shalt thou eat all the days of thy life: And I will put hostility between thee and the woman, and between thy seed and her seed; it shall bruise thy head, and thou shalt bruise his heel.” (Genesis 3: 14-15). The serpent just slithered away.
The Lord God told Adam; “Because you have disobeyed Me, you shall work very hard for your daily bread. The ground will be full of thorns and thistles.”The Lord God then gave Adam and Eve clothes to wear and sent them out of the Garden of Eden. They could never return again. There was placed an angel with a flaming sword to guard the entrance of the Garden of Eden.

What Can This Story Teach Us?

The Fall of Adam and Eve is the beginning to help children understand more about original sin. It also helps children to understand we choose to disobey God and this brings bad results into our lives. Our sin separates us from the Lord God. But God loves us and send His Son, Jesus to make a way for us to be right with the Lord God once again.
The Bible teaches us because of the disobedience of Adam and Eve sin and misery was brought into the perfect world that the Lord God had created. It is important to understand that our life is full of choices. The result of these choices can either have good results or bad results. Adam and Eve made a bad choice to disobey the Lord God. Every day we make a choice to either listen to the teachings of the Lord God through the Words of the Bible obey them. Or to listen to satan.
The Lord God loved us so much that He sent His only Son, Jesus to give us a chance to live forever with Him. John 3:16 says: “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.P
