The Child Jesus

Jesus grew, and became strong in spirit, filled with wisdom: and the grace of God was upon him.

Mary and Joseph his parents went to Jerusalem every year at the feast of the Passover. When Jesus was twelve years old, they went up to Jerusalem after the custom of the feast.
When the day was over and they had done according to the rules of the LORD Mary and Joseph started their journey back home. The child Jesus tarried behind in Jerusalem; and Joseph and his mother did not know it.
Mary and Joseph had journeyed about a day before they started to look for Jesus among their kinsfolk and acquaintance. When Mary and Joseph did not find Jesus they turned back again to Jerusalem to look for him.

They found Jesus after three days of looking and found him in the temple, sitting in the midst of the doctors, both hearing them, and asking them questions. All that heard Jesus were astonished at his understanding and answers.
When Mary and Joseph saw him, they were amazed: and his mother said unto him, Son, why have you done this? We were scared and sad because we could not find you.

Jesus asked his parents why they were seeking him did they not know he had to go about his Father’s business? Mary and Joseph did not understand what Jesus was saying.
Jesus went down with them, and came to Nazareth, and was subject unto them: but his mother kept all these sayings in her heart. And Jesus increased in wisdom and stature, and in favor with God and man.

When Jesus was twelve years old, Mary and Joseph took him with them to Jerusalem for the Feast of the Passover.
On the way home there was such a crowd, they did not know Jesus wasn’t with them. When they went back they found him in the Temple talking to the teachers and the doctors of the law.
He told them, “Did you not know that I must be about my Father’s business?”
He went back to Nazareth and was obedient to them. Jesus grew in wisdom, stature, and in favor with God and men.

What Can This Story Teach us?

When Jesus was a child he honored Mary and Joseph and respected the authority they had over him. Jesus loved His Father God above all. Jesus shows children like you how they should behave!
How can you honor your parents?
you can obey them, co-operate with them, and always be truthful.
By doing these things you earn their trust, and the family enjoys peace and harmony.
