An unnamed woman who played an important role in the history of the Israelites, the mother of Samson the wife of Manoah is a woman we can all strive to be like. She did not need to be named or get credit for raising a son who was used by the LORD God to save Israel from the Philistines.

Miriam was the sister of Aaron and Moses. She played the role of protector, obedient daughter, sister, prophetess and an unhappy leader whose pride got in her way. There is much that can be learned from Miriam. Her mistakes in disrespecting Moses as well as the LORD God can guide us on our journey in life and in our relationship, we have with the LORD God.

Shiphrah and Puah the Hebrew Midwives

Much can be learned from these strong, dedicated, and brave, Hebrew midwives. They had the fear of the LORD which was stronger than the fear of Pharaoh, the king of Egypt. Women of Christ need to have more fear of the LORD and less fear of the Pharaoh’s of this world.

Michal the Daughter of Saul

Michal was the youngest daughter of King Saul. She loved David. Michal was caught between a fierce struggle between the man she loved, David, and her father, king Saul. She was used by her father as a trap in hopes that David would be killed. David did not marry her out of love but to become the son in law of the king. Eventually that love of Michal turned to despising David.

She is identified as a Greek; this meant she was a Gentile woman and not a Jewess from Syrophenician by nation. She knew of Jesus and knew Jesus would have mercy on her and her child. Her persistence in seeking help from Jesus knowing He had the ability to heal her daughter is an attribute we should all hold on to.
